January 4th, 2020 (SSNN)—The United States President, Donald Trump has defended the assassination of the Iranian commander, Qasem Soleimani, saying that the recent U.S. airstrike that targeted Iran’s most powerful commanders was deliberately aimed at stopping an imminent war, rather than waging a a new war in the Middle East.

Addressing the nation on Friday, the US President claimed that the Iranian commander, Qasem, was planning a sinister conspiracy to harm American officials and military personnel, when the US forces caught him red-handed and killed him instantly.

“General Qasem Soleimani, was plotting imminent and sinister attacks on American diplomats and military personnel, but we caught him in the act and terminated him”.

The US President accused the murdered Iranian commander of being responsible for perpetuating the killings and wounding of hundreds of American citizens in the Middle East.

“For years, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its ruthless Quds Force, under Soleimani’s leadership, has targeted, injured, and murdered hundreds of American civilians and servicemen.

“The recent attacks on U.S. targets in Iraq, including rocket strikes that killed an American and injured four American servicemen very badly, as well as a violent assault on our embassy in Baghdad, were carried out at the direction of Soleimani.

“Soleimani made the death of innocent people his sick passion, contributing to terrorist plots as far away as New Delhi and London”, Trump said.

Trump alleged that the slain Iranian commander had been committing heinous crimes and terrorism to destabilise the regions for the last 20 years.

“Just recently, Soleimani led the brutal repression of protestors in Iran, where more than a thousand innocent civilians were tortured and killed by their own government,” the President alleged.

“We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war.

“I have deep respect for the Iranian people. They are a remarkable people, with an incredible heritage and unlimited potential,” he said.

He called on the Iranian government to desist from destabilising the Middle East by sponsoring terrorist groups in the region.

“Iranian regime’s aggression in the region, including the use of proxy fighters to destabilise its neighbors, must end, and it must end now.”

On Friday, the Iranian leaders expressed anger at the killing of their commanders and vowed take tough measures against the Trump administration.

“The U.S. regime will be responsible for the consequences of this criminal adventurism.”
