February 1, 2020 (SSNN)—The Chinese Embassy in the Republic of South Sudan urges students and the people of South Sudan living in China not to be in a panic due to the epidemic virus, saying that the Chinese government is doing everything it can in anticipation of winning the battle against one of the world’s deadliest viruses, the Coronavirus.

“To All South Sudanese Students Studying in China—Happy Chinese New Year! I am Hua Ning, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan. I hope this message finds all you well. As you are witnessing now, the Chinese government and people are united as one in fighting a crucial battle against the coronavirus with unprecedented efforts. More than 6,000 medical staff across the country are joining the local health workers in Hubei and working around clock to contain the spread of the virus. China has been forging ahead against all odds in history. We are confident in winning this tough battle,” said Hua Ning, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan.

“As Chinese diplomats in South Sudan, our hearts are with those courageous people who are fighting at the forefront of epidemic control. We appreciate your firm standing with China at this critical time. The way China responds to major challenges is also a lively course which can not be learned in your classes. As President Xi Jinping once said, ‘tribulations, setbacks and tests have proved to be good for young people in their later life,’ China will become even stronger after the epidemic, so will you, the young students from South Sudan.”

The Chinese diplomat urged South Sudan’s students studying on government-sponsored scholarships not to be terrified or frightened by the precautionary measures that the Chinese government may step up to counter the spread of the epidemic virus.

“To ensure the health and safety of international students in China, the education authorities and all universities in China have adopted precautious measures, which may cause some temporary inconvenience to your daily life. They are doing their utmost to keep all students well cared for.”

He assured them that the South Sudanese Embassy in China and Chinese Embassy in the Republic of South Sudan are on standby and that they should respond in a timely manner in the event of any situation.

“The South Sudanese Embassy in China also maintains close contact with you. I trust you will fully understand and comply with the guidelines and the requirements of your university and local government. Staying at home and reducing unnecessary movement is the most convenient way to protect yourselves. I look forward to seeing you after the epidemic is fully defeated.”

He called on the South Sudanese students to take advantage of their education and turn it into a useful opportunity to advance peace in their country.

“Finally, I hope you all will make the most of your time in China, and contribute to the peace and development of your motherland in the future.”
