April 27th 2019 (SSNN) – The ruling Sudanese Transitional Military Council (TMC) has denied reports that protests at coastal city of Port Sudan has affected the flow of South Sudan’s oil to the port.

On Friday, local news outlets in Sudan reported that South Sudan’s oil flow has been affected by protests in Port Sudan with the protesters demanding its immediate halt to prevent the Council from acquiring funds for refusing to handover power to the civilians.

In statements to the media in Khartoum on Saturday, the Council’s spokesman, Gen. Shams al-Din Kabashi, denied the reports and said oil flow from South Sudan is normal.

“Oil flow from South Sudan is normal and has not been affected by what has been ongoing in the country,” Kabashi said.

He added that South Sudan is now producing 135,000 barrels per day pointing out to the normal flow of oil from oilfields in South Sudan.

“South Sudan still pumps 135 thousand barrels a day,” he added.

For his part, a member of a joint committee between the two countries confirmed that the flow of South Sudan’s oil is normal and has not been affected by the ongoing unrest in the country.
