Repression and Abuse of Women Human Rights Defenders, Activists, and Protesters in Sudan…
June 3rd, 2019(SSNN) ā The Sudanese protests, which have been running for more than half a year now and have ousted President Omar Hassan el Bashir, have seen a sharp turn this morning, June 3rd, 2019 as the armed groups began firing live bullets on civilians killing dozzens in attempt to disperse a sit-in at the military headquarters of the Transitional Military Council in Khartoum, Sudan.
According to reports from Khartoum, at least 13 people have been killed and 23 others were wounded.
The Committee of the Protests, however, alleged that at least 48 women were raped and more than one hundred people were killed during the attack on protesters.
“We in the Committee decided to document these cases, in which 48 women were raped, so as not to be lost and work hard with all Sudanese to recover all rights.” Reads part of the report extended to South Sudan News Now.
The commentators said major crimes were committed around Bhari suburbs but the protesters pledged to regroup and continue the protests until a civilian government is established in the country.
The Sudanese protesters blame a paramilitary group known as Janjaweed for the recent attacks and alleged that the group, which is known for its previous atrocities in Darfur, has vandalized the city, looted property and rapped young girls and women.
