State Minister Defects To SPLM/A(IO)

May 26th, 2019(SSNN) —- South Sudan’s Latjor State Minister of Physical Infrastructure, a former loyalist of Gen. Taban Deng Gai, defected to SPLM/A(IO) under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

According to a report extended to South Sudan News Now by the SPLM/A(IO) Mission Office to Ethiopia and AU, Hon, Dech Kuek Jokthiang, has declared his defections to SPLM/A-IO in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“The SPLM/A-IO Mission Office to Ethiopia & AU would like to congratulate Hon. Dech Kuek Jokthiang, the former Minister of Physical Infrastructure of Latjor State on his wise decision of abandoning the regime of Salva Kiir Mayardit on the 13th of May by joining the people’s movement, the SPLM-IO under the Able & Charismatic leadership of H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon to pursue a just, peaceful & prosperous South Sudan in which all South Sudanese are equals.” Reads part of the Statement.

“Hon. Dech was a former member of Taban Deng’s group who had played a critical role in the establishment of Latjor State. After witnessing rampant Corruption, Nepotism and Sectarianism in Crown Hotel against other members within Taban group, he decided to join the movement to work for peace and tranquillity to South Sudan through R-ARCSS signed by the Chairman and C-In-C of the SPLM/SPLA-IO on the 12th September, 2018.” The SPLM/A-IO Mission office explains.

According to Cde. Koat Gatkuoath Thoat, the SPLM-IO National Coordinator in Ethiopia, Hon. Dech is welcomed back to SPLM/A(IO) and encouraged to work harder to help consolidate peace and stability in Sobat State and South Sudan as a whole.
