May 20, 2020(SSNN) — In a friendly letter written and signed by South Sudan’s incumbent president, Salva Kiir Mayardit, to his all-time rival and current First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, who contracted COVID-19, president Kiir prays for Machar and other members of the former High-level Taskforce to get well soon.

Despite political differences that have hindered the implementations of the peace agreement, President Salva Kiir promised that he will dedicate himself and his time to Gods in heaven to pray for His Excellency, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and the rest of his former HLTF team

“I write to convet my get-well wishes to you and members of the former High-Level Task Force(HTLF) on COVID-19 who have been tested positive alongside Your Excellency.” President Salva Kiir said in his letter which was published a few hours ago by the Presidential Press Unit

“It is my hope and prayer that each new day brings Your Excellency and the rest of your comrades closer to a full and speedy recovery. May Almighty God envelops you in good health and spur your quick recovery” Mr. Kiir continued.

President Kiir further encouraged Machar to rest well and fight the Chinese virus with all the zeal and courage it deserves to defeat it, once and for all.

“I want to personally encourage you and the rest of your colleagues to go through this with courage and zeal needed to win the battle. We all know that the pandemic is relentless but we will pull through” President Kiir assures.

Kiir also commended Machar on taking swift measures to declare his status and isolate himself which in return has protected President Kiir and the rest of the presidency who are mostly elderly politicians.

“I appreciate that you have already taken swift measures to go into quarantine” President Kiir continued.

“Take good time to rest and fight off this disease naturally” He further stressed.
