South Sudanese Minister of Petroleum, Could Face Jail For Sexual Assaults, Adultery
March 24, 2019(SSNN) ā South Sudanese minister of Petroleum, Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, could face charges that include extra-marital affairs, infidelity, adultery and sexual assaults of married women and underage girls under South Sudan constitutional and family law, a Supreme Court Judge warns.
“The charges could vary from sexual and aggravated sexual assault to even murder if such sexual assaults offend public and incite tribal feuds” He said
Hon. Gatkuoth was recently featured on social media after his relationship with a married woman, who was identified as Martha Duer, became public through Facebook network.
Although Gatkuoth claims he wants to marry her, Martha is believed to have been married to Hon. Duer Tut Duer, a South Sudanese official, who is current a high-ranking military official in the armed opposition SPLM/A-IO, for nearly 20 years.
Friends and families members of Martha and Hon. Duer, believe that Martha was not officially divorce from her current marriage, however, those who stand with Martha are confident that Hon. Ezekiel is wealthy enough to confiscate Hon. Duer and Martha family should need be.
Public reaction on social allege that this incident could fit Eastern Jikany-Nuer subtribe against one another as this practice is against Nuer customary law.
Gatkuoth, whose wife died recently from incurable illness, has been accused by other women including musician Nyapal Lul, a happily married woman, for sexualt assaults.
According to the Supreme Court Judge, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Amb. Ezekiel had been accused of similar cases by women some ranging backing to during his tenure as South Sudan ambassador in Washington, DC.
The Judge, who spoke on his position as en elder from the Nuer tribe, warns that Hon. Lol could be held accountable should such sexual assault incidents fit the community against itself.
