April 17, 2019(SSNN) ā€” A confidential report from South Sudanese capital, Juba, confirmed to South Sudanese News Now that a South Sudanese politician and Presidential advisor is currently housing the family of former Sudanese President, Omar Hassan El Bashir, who is currently being held behind bars at a Maximum Prison in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

The high level official confirmed that three members of Bashir’s family including Bashir’s wife are currently living in a five star hotel in Juba under South Sudan Presidential advisor for Security Affairs and Chairman of National Pre-Transitional Committee, Hon. Tut Kew Gatluak Manime.

The insider believes that Bashir’s wife who was identified as Widad Babiker and Bashir’s brother, identified as Abdalla El Bashir, are among the keys members that are being protected by Salva Kiir’s government in Juba. Another family member was identified as Fatima and a wife to Shamsidin.

The South Sudanese Politician, Hon. Tut Kew Gatluak, traveled to Khartoum recently to present President Kiir’s message to the new military council led by 1st Lt. Gen. Abdel-Fatah Burhan, however, South Sudan News Now could not verify if Hon. Tut revealed his big secret to Sudanese military regime.

If confirmed, this will not be the first time South Sudan would be double dealing Khartoum. South Sudan continued to sponsor Sudanese rebels and militias from Darfur and Nuba mountain despite holding bilateral agreements with the regimes in Khartoum.

Who is Tut Gatluak Manime?

Tut Kew or Tut Gatluak Manime is a South Sudanese politician from Bul-Nuer, a subtribe of South Sudan’s second largest ethnic group, The Nuer.

Tut was born in a village in Mayom County and moved to Bentiu town with his mother, where she met Omar El Bashir.Ā  Bashir was a captain in charge of Sudanese forces in Bentiu but he was not married.

Years later, Tut’s mother became a maid to Bashir and continued to work for him until Bashir was later deployed to Khartoum where he successfully launched his bloodless coup to become the president of Sudan on June 30th, 1989. On this day, Captain Bashir ousted aĀ democratically elected government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and President Ahmed Al-Mirghani.

When the news reached Bentiu town, Tut’s mother took his little son to Khartoum and managed to find her way into the palace and met Bashir. Bashir pledged to take Tut to school but little Tut later dropped out of school in junior high and just stayed around in Khartoum; however, Bashir never gave up on him..

He continued to help Tut until when South Sudan decided to secede in 2011. In 2011, Bashir officially handed over Tut to President Salva Kiir and asked him to employ him.

President Kiir employed Tut as his presidential advisor for security affairs, a portfolio he did not qualify for given that he lacked training in security and he did not attain formal education.

Upto mid 2014, Hon. Tut remained dormant in his portfolio but his dormancy took a new shape when bilateral relations between Khartoum and Juba soared to all time low in favor of the SPLM/A(IO) who was being represented by Taban Deng Gai in Khartoum.

Before the end of 2014 the presidency learned that instead of sending those of Kuol Manyang to meet Bashir who never improve anything, Juba should used Tut Kew , who is more of a son to Bashir. Bashir did not bear children of his own and thus he loves his adopted children just like his own.

Since late 2014, Tut Kew has been the number one contact person handling the bilateral relationship between the two countries even after Taban returned to work for Kiir.

In November last year, Tut proved his close ties to his Sudanese father when he unexpectedly moved the venue of his wedding from Juba to Khartoum. This controversial change of venue was sharply criticized by South Sudanese intellectuals but Tut paid very little attention.

With Bashir in prison, it remains unclear if Juba is considering to shift its gears of diplomacy from personalized contacts like Tut Kew but so far Tut continued to stand his weary political grounds.
