July 17, 2020 (SSNN) – Authorities in South Sudan’s capital Juba have arrested a Ugandan national who has been accused by local residents of selling meet, according to police spokesman Maj. General Daniel Justine.

The arrest – Justine told journalists – took place on Thursday when the police in Juba’s northern police station were alerted by local residents of suspicious activities by the Ugandan citizen who has been working selling meat for years.

Justine told journalists that investigations were underway and the suspect will be held accountable for any wrongdoing that will be found after the investigations which he said are being carried out by the police’s CID unit.

“This is to inform you that the police force has arrested a Ugandan national who has been selling meat for a very long time. He has been operating in the shop selling meet for five years, but it is not known when he began selling the dog meat,” Justin said.

“We call on our citizens to be calm. The police department of CID is working and very soon the suspect will be taken into a court of law to face justice,” the police spokesman said.
