South Sudan opposition official allied to Changson dies

June 29, 2020 (SSNN) – A senior South Sudan opposition official of the Federal Democratic Party/Army (FDP/A) led by Gabriel Changson Lew Chang has died following what the organization said was a ‘short illness,’ according to a statement.

Hon. Dhel Gatluak Jourchol, the FDP/A’s head of legal affairs and human rights, dies on Sunday in the United States after battling the unidentified sickness, according to the statement signed by Gabriel himself.

“The Federal Democratic Party/ South Sudan Armed Forces (FDP/SSAF) has received with great sadness the shocking news of the demise of Hon. Dhel Gatluak Jourchol, National Secretary for Legal Affairs & Human Rights for FDP/SSAF on Saturday, 27th June, 2020 after a short illness in USA,” statement said.

“On behalf of FDP/SSAF and on my own behalf, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the Late Hon. Dhel Gatluak Jourchol, that we lost a great man who was potential to help the country in his field of expertise.

“As a National Secretary for Legal Affairs & Human Rights for FDP/SSAF, the Late Hon. Dhel Gatluak Jourchol played a very important role in the activities of FDP/SSAF since 2016. We at FDP/SSAF were looking forward to working with Hon. Dhel Gatluak Jourchol in the R- TGONU giving his sterling performance as former lawyer and advocate in different states in South Sudan and in FDP/SSAF.

“We believe he would have been a great asset to the FDP/SSAF family and South Sudan. The entire FDP/SSAF family shares with the family of the Late Hon. Dhel Gatluak Jourchol, the feelings of their great loss at this time of grief.”
