May 26th, 2019(SSNN) — South Sudan’s General Court Martial(GCM), which prosecutes officers, will make it final verdict on the trial of Major General. Stephen Buay Rolnyang on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019.

The GCM, which has been running every Tuesday and Thursday, heard from the last witness who was identified as Brigadier Gen. Kerubino Deng Thong last Tuesday, May 21st, 2019.

Brig. Kerbino Deng laid an ambush on Maj. Gen. Stephen Buay on May 29th, 2018 in which two soldiers were killed and three others wounded on Gen. Buay’s side.

When asked last Tuesday by the General Court Martial of why he attacked Gen. Buay in 2018, Brig. Kerbino explained that he was ordered to do so by his senior commanders, Maj. Gen. Mathew Puljang and Maj. Gen. Joseph Manyuat.

Maj. Gen. Mathew Puljang also testified last month, however, he claimed that he was attacked first by the bodyguards of Gen. Buay.

The Court has now listened to all witnesses on both sides and final verdict is expected this Tuesday.

Gen. Buay has been accused of attempting to rebel. He was charged with treason, disobedient, mismanagement of resources among other charges, however, the investigative reports did not find evidence to justify the allegations.
