February 13, 2020 (SSNN)—The civilian population in Sobat State under the leadership of the Governor, Maj. General James Banak Riang today in Madeng, Sobat State staged major demonstrations in support of the country’s return to the 10 States.

“The civilian population including local Chiefs, faith-based groups, the youth and Government officials turned up in their thousands to show to the whole world that they are for the country’s return to 10 States, a position in which Chairman and Commander in Chief His Execellency Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon compromised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the sake of Peace to return back to the Country,” said John Chuol Wal, secretary-General in the state.

Addressing the protesters, the state’s Governor, Banak conveyed a message of peace and reconciliation from the leadership of the SPLM-IO.

“In the front of the huge crowds, Governor Major General James Banak Riang delivered a message of Peace from the Chairman to the entire citizens of Gaat-Duany and South Sudanese as whole. Governor James Banak Riang congratulated His Excellency Dr Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, IGAD and the International Communities for their tireless efforts to bring back Peace to the Country from total collapse. He stressed the importance of having Unity and Peace among Sobat State Communities and their neighbours.”

In his remarks, Banak called on the people of South Sudan to support former 10 states and avoid being lured into accepting 32 states established controversially by the government.

“Do you know the controversial 32 States annexed some communities ancestors lands and give it to certain Community? He asked! “Do you kknow the problematic 32 were intentionally created for the purpose of domination of particular Community over other Communities, the states quoted Maj. Banak as saying.

The official said that the issue of the 32 states and its impending consequences will cause a deadly conflict that will be worse than the current civil war in South Sudan.

“The war over 32 States would be much disastrous than the current one, due to the fact that its something that connected with land and resources, he wants.”
