March 16th 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan’s ambassador to China, Andruga Duku, has expressed disappointments over the handling of coronavirus screening at the Juba airport.

Amb. Andruga Duku said he saw the ministry of health staffs screening arrivals at Juba airport were not wearing masks which is risky according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

“I found those working at the airport mingling with arrivals without any masks. We don’t have enough masks at the airport,” he was quoted by Eye Radio as saying.

“You cannot go to the battlefield when you don’t have enough ammunition to fight the war,” he added.

South Sudan has not yet reported any coronavirus case. A foreigner who was rushed to the Juba Teaching Hospital on Saturday evening tested negative for the virus.

Fear over the spread of the virus to South Sudan is growing as the virus is confirmed in neighboring Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.

Last week, South Sudan suspended travels to and from the virus hotpots like China as well as Egypt.
