S. Sudan suspends flights with Egypt, other coronavirus hotspots

March 13th 2020 (SSNN) — South Sudan government has suspended direct flights to and from Egypt and Dubai to prevent the importation of the coronavirus into the country.

The directive takes immediate effect and also restricts entry of travelers from all countries affected by the virus. Affected routes include Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Togo in Africa – as well as China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, the Phillippines, Vietnam New Zealand and other affected countries in Asia.

The restriction also extends to travelers from Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in the Middle East, Europe, the United States and other affected countries.

Addressing journalists in Juba earlier today,the incident manager for the coronavirus in the ministry of health, Angok Gordon Kuol said the ministry, the World Health organisatgion and partners continue vigilant screening at Juba Airport, border crossings in Nimule, Wau, Yambio and other points of entry.

All international conferences slated to take place in South Sudan have been temporarily postponed and members of the public planning to hold social gatherings should seek clearance from the Ministry of health.
