May 21, 2020(SSNN) —  Latest reports from South Sudan’s Pibor Administrative Area and corresponding reports from the national capital, Juba, revealed that youth from neighboring Murle tribe are seen crossing the Ethiopian highland allegedly to launch attacks on Akobo of Lou-nuer, South Sudan.

A report from an Ethiopian journalist, Zoya Mengiste, confirmed that thousands of heavily armed Murle youth were seen at the Ethiopian-South Sudan border but Zoya could not confirm whether or not the intention was to attack parts of Ethiopian or South Sudan.

A similar report from South Sudan capital, Juba, also alleged the same.

Quoting a high profile South Sudanese official, John Luk, the reports claims that the attacks are being launched through Ethiopia’s border.

“We have been informed this evening from Ethiopia that there a large column of Murle Militia who are on their way to Akobo.” The senior government official said.

“The may attack tonight or Tomorrow. Objective is to kill Lou citizens and burn Akobo to ashes if not resisted. pass this on to the guys in Akobo. It is serious. This was forwarded to me by john Luk just now.” The official continued.

Thousands of youth from the neighboring Murle tribe attacked Lou-nuer’s Uror county and left waves of destructions in five different villages.

The attacks, which were launched on May 16, 2020, left a very high death toll, burned down villages and abducted women and children.

Although the Murle youth were eventually defeated by reinforcement of White Army, a local youth organization from other parts of Lou-nuer, the damage was already inflicted.

South Sudan government, which is barely resisting Coronavirus, didn’t even bother to condemn the attacks.

Similar inter-tribal feuds occurred simultaneously in South Sudan’s Warrap state and also in Unity State as youth from the two largest tribes, Dinka and Nuer, entangled in tribal feuds, cattle raid and destruction.

The government in Juba has failed to form states and local  government as the country slowly circumbb to the global pandemic, Coronavirus.
