President Kiir, Sudan’s Deputy Chairman Hemeti Discuss Sudanese Peace Process

Oct 15th, (SSNN)-South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Deputy Chairperson of Sudan Sovereign Council, Lt. General Mohamed Hamdan also known as Hemeti have discussed the ongoing Sudanese peace talks mediated by South Sudan’s government in the capital, Juba.

According to the presidency, Deputy Chairman General Hemeti assured the people of Sudan and the region that the Sudanese unity government is committed to sincerely negotiate in good faith with the various opposition group, and is ready to restore peace in the country.

He reportedly expressed appreciation for the role played by President Kiir’s administration and praised him for ensuring the country’s return to the path of peace and stability.

“General Hemeti applauded President Salva Kiir for his tireless efforts of ensuring that peace and stability is restored back in Sudan.”
For his part, the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs, Tut Kew Gatluak said that peace in neighboring Sudan has a positive impact on South Sudan and its people, pointing out that the two neighboring countries share the same mutual interests.

The Sudanese unity government and opposition groups held meetings in the South Sudanese capital Juba on Monday, and was attended by IGAD leaders and international representatives.
