President Kiir: “I can not tell you to pick up guns and fight” Bul-Nuer but ….
June 9th, 2019(SSNN) — Condemning attacks on his home states of Twice East and Gogrial States earlier this week, South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, mourns the death of civilians, who were killed by cattle raiders, and urge them not to revenge but assures that he “must make sure peace prevails”.
How president Kiir will ensure peace prevails overnight after over 400,000 South Sudanese have been killed within the last five years remains a question, however, President Kiir receives the Governor of Northern Liech State at his Palace and he believes he can work with him to apprehend criminals and hold them accountable.
“As I received a report on the general situation in Northern Liech State from the Governor Dr. Joseph Monytuil on Monday. I took three days to go through it with the briefing from the governor Dr. Monytuil. He enlightened me the cattle raiders are identified and they must face laws.” President Kiir said.
With accusations mounting pressure on Northern Liech State government, Dr. Joseph Nguen Manytuel, travels to Juba to clear the air and rushed back to Mankien to receive governors from Twice East and Gogrial States.
In Juba, President Kiir strongly condemns the attacks and urge the victims to remain calm.
“First and foremost I would like to extend my condolences to the Twic State families who are affected by this tragic incident caused by cattle raiders from Northern Liech State. May God rest their souls in His right hand. I can not tell you to pick up guns and fight against who attacked you but I must make sure peace prevail at state level and to grant civilians freedom to walk freely anytime, anywhere to sustain life.” President Kiir said.
“Secondly I argue elements who are against peace in the country to put down their guns and give peace a chance. Allow innocent civilians to work freely in their farms. Please help me restore our country with honesty and humanity, this peace we are signing as a song day and night starts with you.” Kiir continued.
The troubled president remains civilians that if his rival does not pick up gun to shoot people himself, why would they kill one another.
“If you don’t see a rebel leader picking gun to shoot it by himself, why would you risk your life to take away somebody’s life like you.” President Kiir continues.
According to president Kiir, the cattle raiders, who went on attack might have been sent to do so and he calls on civilians to stop being used to fight unnecessary war.
“You may end up being killed and the one who sends you enjoy peace in his house, this is the situation we all need to change in South Sudan my people.” Kiir said.
