Phow State Gov’t Congratulates Machar for his stance on outstanding issues despite mounting pressure

Oct 29th, 2019 (SSNN)-Phow State Government has congratulated the leadership of the SPLM-IO for its position in refusing to join the Transitional Government of National Unity scheduled for 12 November due to unimplemented outstanding tasks.

“Phow State Government would like to thanks and appreciate H.E Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, PhD Chairman and Commander in Chief of SPLM/SPLA-IO up on his position on behalf of the People’s Movement in face to face talk with President Kiir in South Sudanese’s Capital Juba that the SPLM -IO will not be the part of upcoming Transitional Government of National Unity (TG0NU) in Nov 2019 if the Security Arrangements, Number of States and their Boundaries, Constitutional Review as critical contentious issues have not been resolved regardless of statement of President Kiir that, he will form the TGONU on 12th Nov 2019 whether in available or in absence of Dr. Machar.”

In a statement extended to South Sudan news now, the main opposition group in Phow State, expressed its appreciation to Dr. Machar for his bold stance on the security arrangements, the number of states and their boundaries despite mounting pressure from the international community.

“Excellency, People of Phow State are very delighted with you for your addressing their concerns inline to their expectations, we will remain to work enclose on the Agreement in order to attain peace of purpose in accordance to its provision which is comprehensive for whole warring parties without evading any article(s) for sake of harmonization of the nation.”

Adding that: “Security Arrangements is a major factor that led 2015 Agreement to collapse which result in Dog Fighting on Friday 8th July 2016 in Presidential Palace (J1) when Juba regime refused the deployment of 2,910 troops in Juba as join Forces in accordance with the 2015 Compromise Peace Agreement (CPA-II).”

The statement pointed out that the people of Phow State are for peace and fully support the ongoing peace agreement, but they need a real peace agreement that will not return the country to another all-out war as witnessed in July 2016.

“Comrade Chairman, Phow State People are for peace which should be implemented in accordance to its provision without extra demand, but we are not for peace which is demanding us with new price with an intention from Juba regime to bypass the agreement intentionally, that will lead the nation to return into civil war again.”
