June 11, 2020 (SSNN) – The paramount chief of Bor County, Alier Aluong, has died in the South Sudan capital Juba, relatives and close friends have told South Sudan News Now this afternoon.
“This is to inform you that the Paramount Chief of Bor County, Alier Aluong has died in Juba this afternoon. He has been sick for the previous period and died after the family exhausted many resources,” one family member told South Sudan News Now on condition of anonymity.
Another source confirmed the demise of the prominent community leader but could not confirm reports that the chief died of COVID-19 following two weeks of what another source said was “unsuccessful battle against coronavirus.”
“I cannot confirm that chief Aluong died of COVID-19 but I have been informed. He has died today morning,” the source said
