July 22, 2020 (SSNN) ā Throughout of human life, many changes evolved out of calamitous circumstances that brought up an incredible and unimaginable practice. Historically, it has been a pattern whether it was meaningful change or impractical change. Certainly, pandemics and wars are the leading cause of deaths for so many people across the world over the years.
As we know, wars caused great damages to the nations while plagues cause great damage to human life thought-out generations. For instance, the great depression was a severe worldwide economic depression that took place mostly during the 1930s. However, the timing of the Great Depression varied around the world, but its devastation was enormous and severely in some parts of the world.
During that time, the leaders came up with new innovative ideas helping people but also assisting in winning the war as well.
At the end of the year 2019, several cases of COVID-19 pandemic outbreak began to surface in China, and the world became alarmed, and businesses shut down their operations. As a result, hospitals, clinics, and healthcare centers have been packed up with patients while these hospitals and healthcare centers lack basic medical equipment.
In March, a coronavirus known as COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly spread across the nation and affected every walk of life. Deaths mount up to extent people running away from people they love and known for years.Ā This is how scary the human being does whenever the death close to them. Because of uncertainty caused by great fear of coronavirus outbreak, laboratory scientists, pharmaceutical researchers were working around the clocks to produce a vaccine to cure the virus.Ā But it takes more than 12 months to secure a curable vaccine.Ā Meanwhile, leaders, doctors, businessmen have to come up with innovative ideas, such as social distancing, gloves, and face masks.
Another catastrophic event was September 11, 2001, of which three thousand people were killed and hundreds of thousands wounded.Ā As a result, airports worldwide adopted a new security restriction by implicating tough measures that we see them and became permanent.Ā What is important in this piece common denominator that features shared by all events.
The purpose of this article is to shed light on the positive side rather than the negative outcomes of those events. This is a new world reality that every person must accept its mandates, conditions, and regulations. The biggest picture of this, it teaches us that out of calamity born or produces opportunities.
āThe best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of othersā. Gandhi.
A life without purpose is entirely dead. We wake up in the morning to do just what our gut feelings tell us to do, but with greater purpose. For those who wake up with purpose, are likely to succeed in life despite numerous hurdles. Many of us choose their purpose in different ways more than what and how to do it and for whom? This will take me back directly to the quotation above. Some people choose to serve others; some proffer personal success and group achievement. In essence, denying yourself and losing it in the service of others to me is a noble true genuine purpose of life.
Gandhi wants us to think in serving others because of passion, desire, and level of willingness are in variable choices. Therefore, people like Mandala, Gandhi, and Martine Luther King have sacrificed their lives for others might live with dignity and respect. King has changed a political landscape significantly in the United States of America. As a result of his efforts, more people have gained unquestionable rights and freedom. For instance, black and brown people can vote as well as women are allowed to have equal rights. These are impacts of Dr. Martine Luther King to the people of the United States of America as to the world. Those footprints of King have benefited people like us today. This is a great purpose in his life that benefits others as its evidence in our lifetimes.
Likewise, a great and second purpose it was presented in the person of Mahatma Gandhi to the people of India. Gandhi fought the British Government through civil disobedience of which successfully Indian gained her independence.
Gandhi successfully prevail in using resistance through mass non-violent civil disobedience, he became one of the major political and spiritual leaders of his time. In the end, through his exerted efforts India gained her independence as well as the people of India finally freed. A great purpose looks exactly what a leader can do such as in the person of Gandhi. Isnāt your time yet? No matter what and when itās our time!
Third and final purpose of life is in exemplary leader known as Nelson Mandela of South, Africa who led his people to the freedom through various fronts: on freedom, racial discrimination, reconciliation, human rights, fighting poverty, building peace, and a call to action for democracy and peace & prosperity for all.
Mandela chose this latter course, which is more difficult and which entails more risk and hardship than sitting in a house. The man has had to separate himself from his dear wife and children, from his mother and sisters, to live as an outlaw in his land. He had to close his business, to abandon his profession.
This is a golden and superb purpose of which a person denies himself of getting wealth instead. Mandela was not only a successful leader and president of his country but the exemplary leader of the world who run non-violence civil disobedience and became the president of his country.
Finally, life has a meaning when one has purpose either personal or public well and services to all. An example of those three leaders has illustrated a powerful result of having a meaningful purpose not only for themselves but others who have no desire of their own. To me serving others is a noble purpose in my life.
