National Constitutional Amendment Committee Presents Amended Constitution to Minister Wanawila, “100 Days Extension” Incorporated
January 16, 2020(SSNN) — The National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) has today, Thursday 16th January, 2020, presented the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan, 2011 (Amendment) (No.6) Bill, 2020 to the Minister for Justice & Constitutional Affairs of the former Transitional Government of National Unity of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Hon. Paulino Wanawila.
The Bill incorporates the one hundred (100) days extension period of the Pre-Transitional Period as from 12 November 2019, as resolved by the Parties to the (R-ARCSS).
The extension has affected Article 51A of the Bill to indicate the incorporate of the one hundred days extension that is soon coming to an end.
The incorporation of the extension is pursuant to the Communique of the Tripartite Summit on the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan held in Entebbe, Uganda on 7th November 2019.
It also follows the forwarding of the Bill to the Committee by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs in order for the Committee to incorporate the extended Pre-Transitional Period.
The presentation takes place at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Juba from 2:15 pm this afternoon.
The National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) has been tasked to amend the constitution and incorporate the whole Revitalized Agreement of the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (2018), however, this remains of the critical outstanding issues the parties are yet to implement besides the Security Arrangement, number and boundaries of states.
