May 18, 2020 (SSNN) – Youth from South Sudan’s Mayom county have rubbished claims by some Warrap politicians that they have been armed by president Salva Kiir’s security advisor Tut Gatluak, General Puljang and former Northern Liech state governor Nguen Manytuil.

Last week, some Warrap state politicians called for the removal of Gatluak for allegedly arming Bul youth whom the politicians accused of attacking a number of villages in the country’s Warrap.

However, in a statement this morning, the Bul Youth Council denied the claim and accused some politicians in Warrap of working to cause tensions between the people of both states and were trying to tarnish the image of the entire people of Mayom.

“The leadership of Bul youth Council would like to dismiss the allegations made by Youth and politicians from Warrap State that Bul youths were armed by Hon. Tut Gatluak, Dr. Joseph Nguen Manytuil and Maj. Gen Mathew Puljang Top. Bul were fighting in retaliation of several attacks made by militiamen from Wawrap state,” Samuel Chan Mut Turoah, the leader of the Bul Youth Council said in the statement extended to South Sudan News Now (SSNN).

The statement said the Bul youth condemns the allegations which it said tantamount to defamation of Bul sons working in the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

“The leadership of BYC condemn in the strongest term possible the defamation against our sons in government. The following events were the evident of our condemnation message.  We saw a letter dated 15th, May 2020 wrote by Apuk Giir youth in Awiel condemning irrationally the incident that had led to skirmishes between cattle keepers from Apuk and Bul. The content of the letter was so biased and contain no facts  and evident. It was vague and general and so tribalistic,” it said.

“On 4th, May 2020, Three MPs from Warap State made a baseless and dumbfounded allegations against the same Bul sons in government. This MPs were selectively invited by Radio Miraya without including Bentiu MP’s. Mariak Madut On 15th, May 2020 wrote a derogatory statements by libelling and reducing the image of Bul Sons for unfounded news. Viewing the issues on the ground at the point of ignorant.

“The above comments addressed by Warap youth and politicians to the office of the president are seriously proving  to the whole nation that Dinka thinks President Salva Kiir belong to them. The Dinka behaves in a way that prove they owned the President.

“As the saying goes that “a closed mouth catches no flies” meaning when you learn how to keep silent you will avoid troubles. Defaming Bul Politicians in government will only add fuel to the problem since they never involved in anyway.

“Youth from warap were blaming Bul politicians of arming their civilians then our questions would be “who armed the Warrap youth who had been carrying out cattle raids and killings in different occasions in our territory?

“Bul youth had never blamed any politician from Warrap because we know very well that cattle keepers have got different views.  We believe no one can spearhead the decisions of cattle keepers and we are not sure of their source of arms.

“We must work all for common solution to the problem but not a common blame for people who had never thought of raiding for a minute. Some of you should refrain from threating the air since the drum you’re beating will only cost more life. Let’s end this violent in peaceful way. Calling for revenge will only make the matter worst.

“We would like to clarify to the media that our politicians and military generals have no hand in the ongoing cattle rustling between Bul and Warap. They were even shocked to learn that they were accuse of involving in this senseless killings and raiding of cattle between the two.
