June 4, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan’s former Minister of Presidential Affairs Mayii Ayii Deng who was fired on Tuesday has said that he has no regrets working for President Salva Kiir and expressed his happiness for having grown politically mature under Kiir.

This comes after he was fired by president Salva Kiir over Rumbek-Juba road saga in which a Chinese company and Kiir’s government were critized for poor service delivery after the paved road was washed away in parts by rains.

“I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and appreciation for the privilege to work for and with you over the last four years. Through your leadership and guardianship, I have grown and matured politically and personally. You have taught me so much about the history of the revolution and the liberation struggle, knowledge which could not be read in the books,” Mayiik said in a letter of appreciation seen by South Sudan News Now (SSNN).

“I have no regrets having worked for you and I hold no grudges against anyone during my tenure in the most important office in our land. I am an SPLM member and I will continue to serve our country through the party and other capacities with the hope of assisting your leadership to consolidate peace, rejuvenate the economy, stabilize security, and most importantly, unite our people,” he added in the letter.

“I want to assure you that I will continue to respect the office and your person as this is the least, I could do to appreciate you.”
