Lomoro discharged from hospital
May 29, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan’s cabinet affairs minister Martin Elia Lomoro has been discharged from hospital days after he was admitted to an intensive care unit at Dr. John Garang Center for Infectious Diseases, the South Sudan News Now (SSNN) has learned.
Lomoro who repeatedly denied that he has the coronavirus disease (or COVID-19) was last week put under ventilators after symptoms such as shortness of breathe – all associated with coronavirus – surfaced.
Speaking to South Sudan News Now this morning, a senior government official at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs said Lomoro has been discharged after four nights under ventilators.
The government official said Lomoro’s symptoms disappeared very quickly after he was put under ventilators.
“The minister has been discharged. He is now fine. His symptoms disappeared very quickly. He responded to the medical attention accorded to him by the medical fighters in our country,” the official who insisted not to be named said.
Lomoro is one of senior government officials who have been infected by the deadly virus.
First Vice-President, Dr. Riek Machar, vice-president Hussein Abdelbaggi and defense minister Angelina Teny alongside information minister Michael Makuei Lueth are known senior government officials who have the virus.
South Sudan’s coronavirus cases stood at 994 as of Thursday morning.
