“This is in line with the implementation of the Transitional Security Arrangement. Merry Christmass and Happy peacefull New Year to all our forces.”

South Sudan’s warring Parties signed a peace accord in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, to end years of violence that has displaced millions from their homes.

The agreement also known as the R-ARCSS covers a wide range of issues that are essential to achieving peace and stability in the country.

It includes, among other issues, a detailed agreement on power-sharing, a Permanent Ceasefire and Security Arrangements during the country’s Transitional Period.

Under the agreement, the Parties were required to undertake the process of facilitating and allowing unhindered access to humanitarian assistance.

The peace agreement sets the path forward for Transitional Justice and Accountability to try those accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
