Wednesday, July 31, 2019(Torit): – South Sudan’s Lafon Community condemns an attack alleged to have occured on Saturday, July 27, at around 7:00 pm in Lafon County.

According to details submitted to South Sudan News Now two young men, identified as Achake and Lilur, were shot in Pacidi Payam of lafon County.

“Achake died on the spot while Lilur sustained a serious injury. The victims were attacked by foes just behind the Peter Kidi memorial primary school in Pacidi. Both of them were below 18 years of age. ” A report from Lafon Youth Union reads.

“The alleged perpetrators are from Otuho of Ohiri village. This was confirmed after their footprints were tracked entering Ohiri village.”The report continued.

Lafon community calls on “these culprits to be brought to book and face the law.”

“Since the last incident, in March 24/2019 in which 17 people from Pari/ Pacidi were massacred by Otuho of greater Oronyo community in the name of peace and reconciliation which was initiated by the Torit State governor. Until now many of those culprits are still at large and they continue to cause problems.” The report reads in parts.

“This is an aggravated situation and it is dreadful that Pari people continue to die in as such manner.” The Youth organizations speak out.

According to file extended to South Sudan News Now, both the Torit State and national government formed an investigation committee headed by the Torit State governor, Hon Tobiolo Alberio Oromo, to establish the root cause of the conflict that ran until in March 24, 2019, however, Lafon Community feels nothing has been done so far.

“now nothing has been done. We, Lafon County Youth urge the Torit government to expeditiously complete this investigation without prejudice to bring these criminal to book.” The report reads.

“Secondly the Pacidi –Torit road has been blocked since the first incident in March 2019. People cannot come to Torit, which is the State Capital and the government has failed to address this. Therefore, it is unfair for a certain ethnic community (Pari) to have no access to their main town. However, the State government should not look into this situation with blind eyes.” Lafon Community speaks out.

Lafon County Youth Union, led by its chairman Paul Ukach, warns that “those who take political advantage should bear in mind and remember that such scams will raise the temperature of indignation which will not be upheld.”
