Killer of Captain Manyang identified
June 9, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan police has on Monday identified the killer of Captain Manyang Chol Manyang, a member of the presidential guards who was killed as results of last week’s fighting in Sherikat, and that preparation were being made to charge him, a police source said this afternoon.
Manyang is a member of the South Sudan’s Presidential Guards and he is from the country’s Jonglei state.
His killing sparked protests in both Bor and Juba from members of Bor community who condemned what they said was violence and lawlessness from members of President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s relatives and family members.
Speaking to South Sudan News Now today, a police officer said from Juba that the killer has been indentified and that he confessed to the crime and said he is a relative to Lual Marine, the man said to be behind the killing of around five people last week.
“The suspect in the killing of Captain Manyang Chol has been identified,” the police officer said on condition of anonymity. “He said he is Lual’s relative and now preparations were being made to charge him.”
