Oct 29th, 2019 (SSNN)-The Minister in the Office of the President, Mayiik Ayii Deng, issued a ministerial directive on Monday, canceling an illicit allocation of 18 crude oil shipments – an illegal multi-million dollar deal signed by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Salvatore Garang Mabiordit without authorization from the President’s office.

In a letter entitled Cancellation of the allocation of 18 Crude Oil Cargoes to M/S MINS General Trading LLC” the Minister in the office of the President ordered the authoring official to immediately cancel the process with immediate effects, which entered into force on Monday, 28 October 2019.

“In reference to a letter dated 21st October 2019 from your good-self to the Honorable Minister of Petroleum communicating the approval for the allocation of 18 Crude Oil Cargoes to M/S MINS General Trading LLC; I write to communicate the cancellation of the aforementioned allocation with effect from 28 October, 2019.”

The Office of the President directed the Ministry of Finance to formulate appropriate methods to pay creditors seeking payments from government entities.

“Based on this directive, the Ministry of Finance and Planning is directed to devise its own internal mechanisms on how to pay creditors demanding payments from the government for the goods and services rendered to the government.”

This is not the first time that government officials have been criticized for mismanagement of public resources at the expense of the vulnerable population still struggling in UN camps.

Social media users were angry at the Ministry of Finance for mismanaging the country’s resources.
