July 20, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has said that he rejected to be dictated on who should be appointed as governor of any state in South Sudan, and as such some of the nomination by other parties.

Kiir made the remarks during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed governors of Jonglei and Western Bahr el Ghazal states, along with ministers of higher education and East African Affairs.

“All the parties have the right to be respected but when it comes to the lives of the people of South Sudan, it is duly my responsibility and that is why I altered the recommendations and nominees for the appointments,” Kiir said referring to his rejection of Dr. Lam Akol’s nominee for Jonglei state governor

On Johnson Olony, Kiir said, “I will not accept to be dictated or dictate anyone when it comes to matters regarding the lives of the people of South Sudan.”
