Kiir invites all officials, R-ARCSS signatories to attend ‘urgent’ meeting on Friday
February 13, 2020 (SSNN)—South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has extended invitations, requesting all senior government officials, civil society groups and the opposition to attend an emergency meeting on Friday, in the capital Juba, the Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services announced on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Information, the urgent consultative meeting will centre on the recent proposal of the IGAD Council of Ministers on the issue of the number of states and their boundaries.
“Cognizant of articles 5 & 9 of the Communique of the 34th Extra-Ordinary Summit of IGAD Heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa – Ethiopia on 8th and 9th February, 2020, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan directed that the undermentioned South Sudanese be invited to attend an urgent consultative meeting that will be held on 14/02/2020 at 10:00 A.M in Freedom Hall.”
The government invites the following participants.
1- First Vic-President and Vice President
2- TNLA: Speaker and Deputies and Chairpersons of Specialized Committees
3- Council of States: Speaker, Deputy and Chairpersons of Specialized Committees .
4- Presidential Advisors
5- National Ministers and Deputies 6- State Governors and Chief Administrator of AAA plus one Paramount Chief, one Civil Society, one Representative of Youth and one Woman Leader from each State and AAA.
7- Chairpersons of National Commissions and Institutions
8- Speakers of State Legislative Assemblies
9- Representatives of Youth, Civil Society and Women groups:
Meanwhile the government extended an invitation to signatory parties including the main opposition faction, SPLM/A-IO, SSOA, FDs and other stakeholders.

“All the above mentioned Gövernment Institutions, Parastatals and Organizations are requested to present their lists to the office of the Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services tomorrow the 13th February, 2020 Not later than 12:00 Noon.”
