Nov 27th, 2019 (SSNN)-South Sudan’s dismissed high-ranking commander, Major General Stephen Buay Rolnyang has said his recent dismissal from the military service by the country’s military court was not confirmed by the President, Salva Kiir Mayardit.

“It was not confirmed by the president, but they implemented it today at parade ground in which they dismissed and demoted me,” said ex-army commander Major General Stephen Buay Rolnyang in an exclusive interview with Nyamilepedia.

General Stephen Buay Rolnyang, a former top commander in the SSPDF formerly SPLA was charged in February this year with treason on the grounds that he plotted a rebellion against President Salva Kiir’s government.

He was also charged with defying military orders as he had refused to surrender and report to the Military Headquarters in the capital, Juba before his arrest.

However, an official document written by Head of Legal Administration Majok Mading Majok confirmed that the President had confirmed the court’s ruling and ordered the release of ex-army General Buay Rolnyang.

“The Convict is on record as having been satisfied by the verdict and hence did not intend to appeal. Therefore, H.E. the President has confirmed the verdict of the GCM in totality ad he has further directed that the Convict should be released forthwith,” the statement issued by the Head of Legal Administration Majok Mading Majok.
