May 19, 2020 (SSNN) – Almost fifty (50) Murle attackers have been captured during this week’s fighting in which armed men from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area attacked several villages in Uror County of Jonglei state.

According to a local official who spoke to South Sudan News Now (SSNN) from Uror, some of those captured had ranks saying eight of them are active soldiers of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF).

“Forty-seven (47) criminals have been captured from those who attack our villages this week. 17 of them are members of the National Security Service (NSS) and eight of them are members of the SSPDF,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

“The rest are members of the Cobra faction led by David Yau Yau himself because the forces have not been integrated into the SSPDF,” he added.

He said the attackers have suffered heavy losses saying hundreds of them have been killed and wounded.”
