JMCC dispatches 10 team to transport armed forces to their respective cantonment areas

December 23rd, 2019 (SSNN)-On Monday, the Joint Military Ceasefire Commission (JMCC) a body responsible for oversight and co-ordination of cantonment-related issues, dispatched around 10 teams on purpose to organize and transport government and opposition forces to their permanent cantonment areas.

In a statement extended to SSNN, the Deputy Military Spokesperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-IO, Lam Paul Gabriel said that the mission of the JMCC teams is to ā€œmove registered forces from cantonment sites, barracks and states HQs to the training centers where they will undergo medical screening and unified training.ā€

ā€œThis morning the 23/12/2029, at about 8:00AM, the leadership of JMCC under the Chair of Lt. Gen. Charles Madut Akol officially dispatched JMCC teams to cantonment sites, barracks and State HQs,ā€ said Lam Paul Gabriel.

According to the SPLA-IO military officer, the JMCC team was mandated to provide emergency food to cantonment sites not accessible by road and Register forces that missed out during the initial registration process.

ā€œThis mission is meant to last for seven days only. The leadeship of JMCC requests all forces to re-assemble at the cantonment sites and barracks for easy pick up,ā€ Lam said.

The JMCC urged the National Pre-Transiotinal Committee, to urgently release food supplies other assembly areas.

ā€œThe JMCC therefore, calls upon the NPTC to urgently provide food supplies to the remaining cantonment sites to speed up this process of movement of forces.ā€

The Joint Military Ceasefire Commission (JMCC) is an oversight body mentioned by the R-ARCSS under Chapter II, Article 3.3 of the Agreement.

Co-shared by four Deputy Chiefs of General Staff, the JMCC is responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating issues relating to cantonment, barracks, and it reports directly to the Commanders in Chief of the respective warring parties.
