Jagei Community Leader denounces election of Hon. Malual Tap
Juba, South Sudan,
June 7th, 2021(SSNN) — The Jagei community association in Juba, South Sudan, has allegedly backtracked from its recent elections that installed Hon. Malual Tap Die, the Unity state minister of Finance, calling it illegal.
In a statement received by our editorial team, the Jagei Community leadership calls on Jagei members in diaspora and South Sudanese at large to disregard the election that attempted to install Hon. Malual Tap due to what the chairperson, Ustaz Makuar Liah Ruot, calls “irregularities”.
According to Mr. Ruot, the elections were organized by a few individuals that were not authorized to do so by his leadership and therefore their conduct was ruled illegal by the current leadership, adding that they had no legal and supportive grounds to do so.
The chairperson charged the group for trying to pass a 60-paged constitution in a rush, which he believes is illegal.
” Where on earth the document with 60 papers and 40 articles can be explained within 30 minutes”, Community chairperson Ruot asked.
He further claims that when the constitution was passed, the police , soldiers and some security personnel were deployed around the building with a mission to intimidate and harass the dissidents.
Mr. Ruot informs his community and sympathizers that Hon. Malual is just a chairman of the community on “social media” but not a community leader by the constitution that reflects the will of the Jagei community “because all electoral procedures were run unilaterally from day one.”
Ruot added that the Jagei Community that he leads is the only legitimate and popular association saying it’s recognized by all Jagei community around the globe
“We want to confirm to the general public and in particular the Jagei community around the globe, that we are the only legitimate executive body representing the majority of Jagei community, because our term didn’t finish as dictated in the constitution”, he concluded.
On the other hand, the elections of Hon. Malual was well received by significant number within the Jagei Community.
“It was amazing indeed. Great leader. For winning the trust on your people of jagei community as their chairman In Juba South Sudan” Said Kuorwai Kuol, a member of Jagei Community who attended the elections.
“First I would like to congratulate the electoral Committee for they conducted the election process peacefully, confirmed and declared the winner at the same time. Thank you Mr EC Chairman Hon. Tut Lieth Jiech and all your board.” Bol Wed E Chom writes on his social media page.
“Secondly: Congratulation to you brothers and sisters in Jagei and wherever you are. Thirdly: congratulation to you Tutdol the new elected Chairman of Jagei Community Association in Juba for winning the trust of your people. I wish you and all your board to lead Jagei community in unity, safety and peaceful leadership.” Bol continued.
