Government dismisses rumours of Makuei’s resignation
February 16, 2020 (SSNN)—The Ministry of Information Communication & Postal Services vehemently dismisses social media rumours, alleging that the Minister of Information, Michael Makuei Lueth had tendered his resignation in the wake of the President’s recent decision on the number of states.
“This is to inform all the general public and the citizens of South Sudan in particular that the news been circulated on the social media that the Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth has resigned, is a baseless information and considered as fake news. The poster aims intended to creat fear among the citizens,” said the Ministry.
Since Saturday, there have been rounds of unconfirmed reports that speculate that the Minister of Information, Michael Makuei was crestfallen after the Presidency unexpectedly decided to return the country to ten states.
“Hon. Michael Makuei yesterday immediately after the presidency decision went to the National TV and Radio (SSBC) and urges the people of South Sudan to support the decision made by the Leadership for the greater interest of the people of South Sudan.”
The Ministry warned those who were spreading rumors against Michael Michael Makuei and urged the public to remain calm and support the decision made by the president for the sake of peace, unity and reconciliation.
“Those who created such stories are the enemies of peace and have ill intentions for our beloved Country so Please don’t believe on any of the news published on irrelevant source of Information get the formal news from the credible sources, so please let’s support our President and peace.”
