Nov 20, 2018(SSNN) — In support of South Sudan peace implementation, a Kenyan Bus company puts South Sudan’s peace icon, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, as its front banner while ridding on the streets of Nairobi, Kenya.

Drilling many passengers from South Sudanese population in Kenya, the bus has gone viral on social media for the last few days with many South Sudanese sharing the picture of the bus.

Noticeably the banner was placed on this bus the day Dr. Riek Machar Teny despised the haysayers, mostly his security advisers, and walked into the capital, Juba, to celebrate the recently signed peace agreement with his arch rival, Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The South Sudanese politician has been a great hit not only in South Sudan but also in the region for his long and controversial political ideologies that have drawn wars and criticisms.

While on one hand Machar is seen as a peace icon by his supporters, who are predominantly Nuer and other minority groups; on the other end, he is perceived as an arch political rival who incites his fellow tribesmen against the dominant Dinka tribe; however, both sides agree that Machar has ideas that can transform his country.

South Sudan descended into a deadly civil war in 2013 following an argument in the ruling SPLM party between the Chairman Salva Kiir and his deputy Riek Machar and other senior SPLM cadres.

The war has ranged on for the last 5 years and displaced over 4 millions people to Kenya and other neighboring countries.

Kenya has been deeply involved in South Sudan politics both in trying to mediate peace between Machar and Kiir, and also in trying to help Salva Kiir consolidate powers, a controversial political standpoint that has seen many of Machar’s allies silenced or forcefully handed over to Salva Kiir in Juba.
