April 9th, 2019(SSNN) — The today’s general court martial of Maj. Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang was adjourned to Thursday after a few witnesses testified.

Among those who testified in court today were army officers from Wau division. More testimonies are expecting on Thursday from Maj. Gen. Mathew Puljang and Maj. Gen. Joseph Manyuat, the two generals who carried out offensives against the accused leading to his arrest.

According to a confidential report that was intercepted between Maj. Gen. Puljang and the Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Jok Riak in May 2018, Maj. Gen. Puljang was convinced that Gen. Buay Rolnyang had defected and therefore he believed that it was his duty to pursue him.

“And I observed from his view he is no longer SPLA officer right away. I am going after him in Mayom.Regards” Mathew Puljang wrote in his report to CDF Jok Riak.

In that report, Maj. Gen. Puljang explained that Maj. Gen. Buay Rolnyang came to Mankien and proceeded to his home in Bieh; however, when he came to Puljang’s headquarters, Gen. Buay was instructed through a phone call by the Deputy Chief of Defense Forces, Lt. Gen. Charles Madut, to wait for a committee that was going to come to meet him but he defied.

“032/5/2018, following the coming of Major Gen. Stephen Buoy to Mankien and proceeded to his home in Bieh and came back this morning at 10:20 AM, to my HQS as possible, we spoke through phone with A/CDF for Admin.personnel and finance, he was instructed to be here with me till the committee were send by GHQS, he avoided that and proceeded to Mayom.” Puljang said.

If Gen. Puljang and Manyuat testify on Thursday, other military generals including Lt. Gen. Charles Madut, Lt. Gen. Deng Wol, Lt. Gen. Johnson Juma Okot and Gen. Jok Riak, among others, may also be called to testify.
