Gaguang-Nuer Community Forms White Army Peace Task Force
April 2, 2020(SSNN) — Following a series of revenge and targeted killing among the neighboring Nuer sub-tribes in Sobat of Upper Nile State, local communities, chiefs, elders and local administrations held a conference on March 5 and 6 in Maker Payam of Thorow County;
Referenced to the conference, the Gaguang-Nuer community white army re-organized and established a new leadership for Peace Task Force in the area to directly monitor and enforce the law when necessary.
“Reference to March 2020 Gaguang National Convention Agenda Items no 1, read together with Resolutions no (c) that call for the formation of the White Army leadership also known as “Peace Force”” Reads part of the statement;
The Gaguang-Nuer community, which is drawn from three sections of NYANG, CIE-NYINGIE and GAAT-CHIKA, endorsed three leaders of the Peace Task Force as follow:
1) MR. LEW NYUON DENG, WHITE ARMY COMMANDER
2) MR. TUJAK WIYUAL MACH, WHITE ARMY 1st DEPUTY COMMANDER
3) MR. CHUOL MACHAR LUEL, 2nd DEPUTY COMMANDER;
According to the conference, the functions and duties of the Peace Forces and its leadership shall be as stipulated in the 1st Agenda Items, Resolutions number b & c, which states:
“b) Blood -compensation to the victims’ families and relatives as tradition and laws required must be perform with immediate effect with the help and cooperation between County and Local community leaders as soon as possible. The blood compensation shall be back dated starting from the past 7 years to compensate the family of the victims who were killed but not compensated in those times by proceeding administration due to various reason;”
“c) To prevent any further communal conflict, the participants in the National Convention agreed that ‘White Army’ as a Peace Force is to be organized with their Leaders nominated by each sub-clan.”
According to the local leadership, the leadership of the Peace Force shall work jointly with County Administration, the Chiefs, and with the entire Community to prevent recurrence of violent conflicts that have been taking toll on lives and livelihoods of the local communities here.
The local community (Gaguang) calls on their sons and daughters in the diaspora to create means to facilitates logistics for the Peace Force to conduct its activities effectively.
“Diaspora Community are encourage to provide logistics support to the Peace Force in order to conduct their operations effectively and in timely manner.”
