Monday, April 14, 2025 – The Ezra Construction and Development Group (ECDG) proudly announces a 13% interim discount on the Thermal Energy Tariff effective immediately. This initiative aims to make energy more affordable for all citizens while ECDG continues to pursue sustainable, long-term solutions. It reflects the company’s dedication to supporting the people of South Sudan during challenging times.

ECDG Managing Director, Samson Tekie Ezra, stated: “We are committed to providing reliable electricity and ensuring accessible and affordable energy for all sectors of South Sudan. As part of our efforts to integrate cost-effective energy sources into the national grid, we implemented our Multiple Independent Power Producer (IPP) framework in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Dams (MED) and other key stakeholders. However, achieving the full benefits of the framework requires the timely commissioning of the NESITU Power Plant, as this is pivotal to fulfilling the government’s promise of affordable energy. This interim discount will help ensure the objectives of the Multiple IPP framework remain on course.”

Key Features of the Interim Discount:

  • Discount Rate: A 13% discount will be applied exclusively to the Thermal Energy Tariff, offering immediate relief to end users.
  • Implementation Period: The discount will remain in effect from April to the period Nesitu power plant is commissioned and on the grid.

The interim discount is part of ECDG’s commitment to supporting the nation’s development through initiatives that ease the burden on consumers. This new discount follows a previous 20% reduction in 2020 offered to Domestic and Government tariff categories, which provided critical relief during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 13% discount on thermal energy tariffs to JEDCO will directly benefit all customers, ensuring energy remains accessible for public and commercial sectors. ECDG will continue to work with the Ministry of Energy and Dams and other stakeholders to monitor the progress of South Sudan’s energy sector and implement long-term sustainable solutions.

Mr. Ezra expressed his gratitude for the partnership and cooperation of the Ministry of Energy and Dams, stating: “We at ECDG, see ourselves as part of the solution and are committed to continuing our efforts to transform the South Sudanese energy and business landscape. Together with our partners, we are taking meaningful steps to improve energy access across South Sudan and ultimately build a more prosperous future for all.”
