Nov 1st, 2019 (SSNN)-The family of Major General Stephen Buay Rulnyang on Thursday dismissed and strongly condemned social media allegations that South Sudan’s Military Court had made its final ruling on Buay, stripping him of his ranks and removing him from the SSPDF’s ranks and files.

“As a family of Major General Stephen Buay Rolnyang, it has actually come to our attention that some individuals or rumourmongers are spreading baseless information that General Stephen Buay Rolnyang has been striped or demoted from the rank of Major General to Private in the South Sudan People’s Defense force (SSPDF).

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this allegation and we regard it as mere propaganda or unfounded allegations,” the statement added.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Malieth Malek Dap pointed out that the recent ruling of the General Court Martial (GCM), serves as a pre-trial judgment and that there should be a final approval from the president and he will be the final decision-maker in this matter.

“This proposal was pronounced to Gen Buay by the General Court Martial (GCM), meanwhile H.E the President and C in C hasn’t approved the verdict yet. Such rumors never exist and must cease, otherwise don’t spread information that do not exist before the final decision or resolution from the President.”

Maj. Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnang was arrested on May 31, 2018 after fierce fighting Broke out in Mayom County between his forces and those loyal to an SSPDF-backed militia commander General Matthew Buljang Top.
