June 9, 2020 (SSNN) – A Chinese diplomat has blamed what he said is a lack of proper drainage system for the destruction of Juba-Rumbek high-way two weeks after rains destroyed parts of the road which is being constructed.

A Chinese company which is constructing the highway has been criticized for failing to deliver lasting service on the construction of the Juba-Bahr el-Ghazal highway following the destruction of the roads.

“Lack of drainage system and reservoirs has made it difficult to construct proper roads in South Sudan,” Ambassador Hua Ning, the Chinese ambassador in Juba said.

South Sudan government in 2019 contracted a Chinese company, Shandong High Speed company in return for 30,000 barrels of oil per day.
