Chief Justice’s son said to be flown to Kenya over “persistent” COVID-19 symptoms
April 6, 2020 (SSNN) — Son of South Sudan’s Chief Justice is said to have been flown to Kenyan capital Nairobi after reportedly suffering symptoms similar to that of coronavirus, several government officials and close friends said.
Four children of Chief Justice Chan Reec Madut arrived to the country from London, UK, last month. They refused to be tested upon arrival at the airport sparking a fistfight with security personnel.
Speaking to South Sudan News Now tjis evening, a close friend of the unidentified son said he seems to have coronavirus for suffering high temperature and persistent cough.
“This man have coronavirus I think. He has been coughing for two weeks now and he have a very high temperature,” the source said. “That’s why he would be airlifted to Kenya for further medical care.”
South Sudan’s coronavirus taskforce on Sunday said they have tested the country’s first positive case of a European citizen who arrived in the country from Netherlands via Ethiopia in late February.
First vice-president Dr. Riek Machar who read out the statement said a South Sudanese citizen who was suffering from “underlying” illness would be flown yo Nairobi got treatment.
He however did not say if the patient would be the Chief Justice’s son despite speculations that he would be him.
