CES Governor condemns killing of ex-governor’s son
October 11, 2020(SSNN) — The Governor of South Sudan’s Central Equatoria State, Hon.Emmanuel Adil Anthony, condemns in the strongest terms possible the recent extrajudicial killing of Lawrence Clement Wani Konga, a son to the former Governor of Central Equatoria State, Gen.Clement Wani Konga.
The son of the former governor was killed at the outskirts of Juba on Monday in a mysterious incident that has raised alarm over the security in Central Equatoria State where scores have been killed within the last two weeks in what seems to be tribal revenges.
Responding to these incident, Hon. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, condemned the incidents and travelled to Terekeka on Friday to further assess and address the issue at the grassroots.
According to Derick Derickson, the press secretary in the office of the governor, Hon. Adil also addressed the rising security concerns during his weekly security meetings in Juba which were attended by the security organs of Central Equatoria State.
“Governor Emmanuel made this sentiment to the state media unit after his weekly security meeting as shared by him with all the commanders of the organized forces in the state.” Said the governor’s Press Secretary, Derick Derickson
“We urged the family of General Clement and the community in general to remain calmed,because we as a government are taking legal measures to ensure that the perpetrators of these acts are brought to book and face the full force of the law”Governor Emmanuel said.
The Governor further “called upon the two sides in questions to refrain from these ongoing clashes that is occurring and equally direct all the cattle camp leaders to desist from the confrontations that has been taking place and as well not to move their cattles of either sides as we look forward to solve the entire situation”.
Adil assures that the security in the state remains stable but he pledged to deploy forces at various hot spots to deescalate the tension.
