Salva Kiir Mayardit, but according to the latest findings, President Kiir fears his Director General of National Security Service, Gen. Akol Kor more than the youth or his arch-rival, Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

The findings, revealed to South Sudan News Now, alleged that the Head of National Security Service, Gen. Kuol Manyang and the Chief of South Sudan Defense Forces, Gen. Gabriel Jok Riak.

“Gen. Akol Kor has significant powers. In fact he is never cross-checked or audited by any body, who can do that? The president fears him leave alone the minister of Defense and the CDF. Both Kuol Manyang and Jok Riak come from the minority Dinka Bor tribe, they have no power to question even a rat leave alone Gen. Akol Kor. They are puppets to President Kiir. So Akol grew a lots of horns but I think his time is up” Reads part of the report extended to SSNN.

“In term of manpower, I think, Gen Akol commands between 25, 000 to 40, 000 men and women under his national security services within Juba and other parts of the country. ” The insider’s report continued.

The insiders report alleges that Gen. Akol stockfiled weapons and ammunition that include over 1500 rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), 3050 PKMs and thousands of light weapons and ammunition under his custody in the Blue House and his main headquarters.

Akol Kor is now under house arrest and the army has taken the role of the National Security while the government, mostly the elderly politicians and generals known as the Jieng Council of Elders(JCE) are making countless trips between president Kiir and Gen. Akol in attempt to normalize tension without further escalation as witnessed in the past scenarios.

Gen. Akol Kor Recruited 3,000 New Forces in Tonj and Gogrial, UN Experts

According to the recently released report of the UN Experts on South Sudan, Gen. Akol Kor privately recruited over 3000 new forces in Tonj and Gogrial in violation of December 2017 Permanent Ceasefire Agreement.

“62. Contrary to the provisions of the revitalized peace agreement (article 2.1.8), for example, the Panel has confirmed the recent recruitment by the National Security Service of at least 3,000 new forces in Tonj and Gogrial, the respective homes of Akol Koor Kuc and President Kiir, with ethnic and tribal affiliation becoming an increasingly greater focus of the most senior government officials.” Reads  part of the UN Experts Report on South Sudan.

The UN Experts further confirmed that Gen. Akol has been privately training recruits at a private facility in Ananatak with support of an International Company known as “Marchant – Mighty Warriors Tactical Training”.

“63. New National Security Service recruits are reportedly receiving training at a facility located in Ananatak. The training is allegedly supported by an international company that may be operating locally as “Marchant – Mighty Warriors Tactical Training”. The UN Experts Report continued.

According to the UN Experts such trainings are illegal and should be barred through imposition of the arms embargo.

“Any such training would fall under the provisions of the arms embargo imposed on the entire territory of South Sudan by the Security Council in its resolution 2428 (2018).” The UN Experts Report continued.

It is yet to be confirmed if Gen. Akol trained his recruits to be private militias as alleged but South Sudan presidency has so far distanced itself from such trainings and similar activities that have been carried out privately by the National Security Services.

In other reports, the office of South Sudan President, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit,  has accused powerful politicians and military generals that are deemed to be a threat to the presidency of President Kiir and majority of them have been removed, detained or forced to rebel.

Gen. Akol, who spearheaded removal of Gen. Malong Awan and other arch-rivals of president Kiir, is now next on the row which leaves critics, intellectuals, friends and sympathizers of South Sudan wondering if South Sudan would ever have peace and political stability.
