Breaking: NAS members risk being deported to Juba
February 3, 2020 (SSNN)—Four members of the National Salvation Front (NAS), who were arrested on Sunday after being accused of procuring military uniforms in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, are on the verge of being deported to South Sudan, a military source reported to the media this evening.
“The issue is being dealt with by the relevant authorities at the highest level. Sudan and South Sudan are committed to combating all forms of transnational organized crime, to that end, the four rebel members will be deported to their country [South Sudan],” the military source revealed on Monday.
On Sunday, Sudan’s paramilitary forces, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) arrested four members of the South Sudanese armed opposition group National Salvation Movement (NAS), a rebel group headed by former Deputy Chief of Staff Lt Gen Thomas Cirillo Swaka.
“Disturbing security and safety, purchasing uniforms and military insignia, stirring up war against the state, transnational organized crime, sabotage and war, disturbing relations with South Sudan and working to create tensions between the two countries,” said the RSF spokesman Jamal Juma on Sunday.
The leadership of the National Salvation Front could not be immediately reached for comment.
