BREAKING: Kiir says he is not sick
May 25, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has said that reports that he was sick and was rushed to the Egyptian capital Cairo for treatment were not true saying he was fine and discharging his duties as head of state.
This comes after reports that the South Sudanese head of state has contracted COVID-19, the respiratory sickness caused by coronavirus, and has been rushed to a Egyptian hospital in Cairo after his alleged COVID-19 situation got worse.
However, addressing the nation this evening, Kiir said the reports were not true and accused unnamed individuals of waging propaganda warfare against him.
“Over the last few days, there has been a lot of propaganda regarding me,” Kiir said.
“They said the President has COVID-19 and has been escaped to Egypt. They even went as far as saying the President is dead. But where did I travel from?” Kiir asked.
He further said “the public should not delve into propaganda issues.”
