Kiir appoints eight state governors
June 29, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir Mayardit has this evening, appointed eight state governors, leaving two opposition-allocated states without governors, according to decrees read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation.
Kiir in the decree appointed governors for Lakes, unity, Warrap, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Western Equatoria, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Central Equatoria and Eastern Equatoria.
The South Sudanese head of state did not appoint governors for Jonglei, which is allocated to SSOA, and Upper Nile state, which has been allocated to the SPLM-IO led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
Kiir also appointed three other politicians for Greater Administrative Arrears of Abyei, Ruweng and Pibor.

2 – Louis Lobong Lojore – Eastern Equatoria state (IG)
3 – Makur Kulang – Lakes state (IG)
4 – Tong Aken – Northern Bahr el Ghazal state (IG)
5 – Nguen Manytuil Wijang – Unity state (IG)
6 – Bona Biar – Warrap state (IG)
7 – Sarah Kilto – Western Bahr el Ghazal state (IO)
8 – Alfred K. K. Onyango – Western Equatoria state (IO).
Chief Administrators
1 – Kuol Alor – Abyei Administrative Area (IG)
2 – Joshua Kuani – Greater Pibor Administrative Area (IG).
3 – William Chol – Ruweng Administrative Area (IG)
