Breaking: Iran admits ‘unintentionally’ downing the Ukrainian Boeing 737

January 11, 2020 (SSNN)— The Iranian government in a statement, has claimed responsibility for inadvertently shooting down a Ukrainian Boeing 737, which crashed last week and killed 176 passengers on board.

The statement came after the Iranian government initially denied that the Boeing 737 had caught fire on its own, causing the plane to crash.

Earlier today, the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has admitted that ‘human error’ was to blame for the downing of the passenger jet.

“Our profound regrets, apologies and condolences to our people, to the families of all victims, and to other affected nations,” he said.

The Ukrainian Boeing 737, operated by Ukraine International Airlines, crashed on the outskirts of Iran shortly after take-off, amid global tension after the Iranian military forces launched dozens of missiles at US military bases in Iraq.

The commercials plane, en route to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, was carrying around 167 passengers and nine crew members from several countries, including 82 Iranians, at least 63 Canadians and 11 Ukrainians, according to officials.

In the past few days, there has been intense tension between Tehran and Washington after the American forces assassinated Iran’s powerful commander, Qasem Soleimani, after  accusing him of perpetuating and carrying out terrorist activities the Middle East.

The killing of Soleimani caused widespread panic around global that the world would slip into World War III.
