Dec 4th, 2019 (SSNN)-The former Governor of Adar State, and high-ranking officer allied to the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) Brigadier General,  Nhial Nyal Diing has defected and joined the Provisional Military and Politcal Council, a splinter group headed by Major General James Ochan Puot.

Brigadier General Nhial Nyal Diing – a former commander in the  SPLA-IO, announced his resignation from the movement earlier this week, citing what he termed ‘corruption’ in the main opposition group.

“I’m forwarding my resignation from our movement because the army administration in the [SPLM] IO is not doing things in the right way because any general is working on what favor[s] his own interest.”

General Nhial was working under the logistics department in the Northern Upper Nile region.
“Now, I leave the movement and corruption of Riek Machar and Gawar to Join Maj. Gen. James Ochan Puot,” he declared.

The Provisional Military and Political Council is an armed splinter faction formed in September on the basis of protecting the civilian population by the Chie-waw community under the military command of Major General James Ochan.

Last month, The Ceasefire & Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring & Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVT) met with Major General Ochan to discuss and probe into alleged violations of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (HoA) in Maiwut.
