Oct 12th, 2019 (SSNN)-The Deputy Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Henry Odwar is expected to brief senior members and supporters of the main opposition movement on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement on Saturday and Sunday, an opposition official confirmed early today.
“Henry Odwar just arrived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada now at midnight. The Canadian chapters will meet here tomorrow [Saturday] and Sunday,” the source explained.
According to the official, the Deputy Chairman, Henry Odwar is due to address the missions and brief members of the SPLM-IO on the progress made in the implementation of the peace deal.
The source added that, Odwar was scheduled to visit Canada to hold such a briefing meeting with members of the Movement, however, the mission was abruptly cancelled after Machar was planning to come to Juba for a face-to-face meeting with Kiir.
“It is the SPLM/A leadership General Assembly conference. This conference was suppose to be done last month on September 2nd but it was postponed because Cde. Henry couldn’t attend as he got busy preparing over Dr. Machar’s meeting with president Kiir.”
“He will be the keynote speaker at the GA and he will also brief the South Sudanese congregations in church on Sunday.”
